August 4th, 2018

We would like to congratulate Jeremy Le Saulnier on passing his 2nd kyu brown belt test and Mark Winkeler on passing his 3rd kyu brown belt test!!!!!! We would like to thank Shihan Rick Spencer for sitting on the testing board!!! 







Upcoming Testing

Starting 8/4/2018 Mark Winkeler & Jeremy Le Saulnier will be rank testing.  The test may be done in one day but could stretch over the course of the following week. Mark will be testing for 3rd Kyu (brown belt with three stripes) and Jeremy will be testing for 2nd Kyu (brown belt with two stripes). The test will be overseen by Shihan Rick Spencer. Good luck to both students!


October 21st, 2017 

Congrats to Noah Galow for earning his orange belt (8th Kyu), and to Gideon Galow for earning his blue belt (7th Kyu) in the kids class!  

And, as always, SDFS would like to thank Shihan Rick Spencer for being present for the Honto class and being a part of the kids testing board on this day.

SDFS completed its most recent round of testing and congrats are in order! 

Christina Hardin was promoted to 6th Kyu in Shorin-Ryu  (green belt w/ white stripe)


Gideon Galow was promoted to 8th Kyu 1st Stripe (orange belt w/ blue tape), and Noah Galow was promoted to 9th Kyu 1st Stripe (yellow belt w/ orange tape), both in the Phoenix Kempo Kid's Karate Class.

A Special Thank You 
In the past few months, Self Defense & Fitness Systems has been honored by the presence of Shihan Rick Spencer as a guest instructor for the Honto class on various occasions.  A lot has been learned, and we look forward to training with him in the future. We thank him for each class he spends with us!

Self Defense & Fitness Systems would like to congratulate our newest promotions. All students are from the kids class. Congratulations to Gideon Galow for earning the rank of 9th Kyu/Yellow Belt with 2nd Orange Stripe, and Adalee Clarke & Noah Galow for both earning the rank of 9th Kyu/Yellow Belt.  They also had the privilege of testing in front of Shihan Rick Spencer.

Self Defense & Fitness Systems Center is excited and very proud, to announce that Hanshi D. Michael Hurst was inducted into an elite group of Martial Masters at the Masters Hall of Fame Awards in San Antonio, Texas this year. The awards took place on June 4th, 2016 and featured special keynote speaker Frank Dukes. Sensei Chris Balster and Sensei Jamie Balster were honored to be invited to witness Hanshi Hurst’s induction into this prestigious group! In addition to Hanshi Hurst's induction, Sensei Chris was promoted to 4th Degree Black Belt and Menkyo Renshi license in Ryukyu Kenpo Rengokai, and Sensei Jamie was promoted 3rd Degree Black Belt and Menkyo Taishi license!!!!!! Sensei Jamie has also advanced to Three Tassel Sifu in Iron Crane Boxing. A big congratulations to them!!!
